2D and 3D layouts for maps of science compared

GraphInsight accepts the .net Pajek file format as an input. The .net file
format does not code attributes for nodes or edges, ie pre-attributed
colors for nodes can't be imported in GraphInsight with this format. 3
other import formats are listed (DIMACS, CNF, CNF2), but I could not figure
out their specifications.
(I cc one of the co-founders of the software, Michele Dallachiesa, who
might add some supplementary info!)
Best,
Clement
