Excerpt: What this also means in practice is that we should probably
continue to use the Impact Factor as a surrogate marker of
publication "quality", but we should also be aware of its limitations (1-
4). We should recognise as well that the Impact Factor is not the be-all
and end-all marker of a journal's quality. It is but one marker, and
although it is probably the best marker we currently have, it is a marker
which is more directed at on-going (citable) work than practioner-targeted
work.
