Abstract: The concept of international importance in scientific 
publications is increasingly utilized as a measure of a publication's 
quality. Publications in international journals have become crucial and 
are increasingly used as an index of scientific productivity. 
Nevertheless, concrete definitions of the concept of international 
importance are rarely offered, resulting in terminological confusion. The 
present study attempted to resolve the situation by analyzing the 
international level of three Iberoamerican journals included in the Web of 
Science(R) according to the criteria of the internationality index. The 
present study provides a useful guide for journal editors who are seeking 
to increase the level of internationality in their journals.
