[Sigmet-officers] iConference2012

Dear All,

I suggest a panel on traditional versus alternative metrics. More
specifically what is the value of Web visibility versus traditional citation
and publication based evaluations.

I've recently been at the altmetrics workshop (
http://altmetrics.org/workshop2011/). We've done some work on new sources of
evaluation (like blogs, Mendeley), but I could represent the "traditional"
metrics as well. And I also think that involving Jason Priem in this panel
would be a good idea.

Let me know your thoughts on this, and also who wants to be involved.
