Skot,
Here are a couple of thoughts regarding your questions. First, it is a relatively new term, and it is in English. It will take a while until the usage settles to one term, so your strategy should probably be to try to predict which one will win, and be willing to re-evaluate your decision down the road.
As far as the word tag is concerned, I would think that it would eventually be used as is in the French language. It is short and catchy. "Mot-clé" would also be a good one, but it becomes a bit cumbersome when you need to find the equivalent for the verb "to tag" ("Associer un mot-clé").
If you or someone you know can read French, here is a short article where both are used.

As for blog, your best bet would be to use "blogue" (although other terms can be used like "carnet Web" or "cybercarnet"). You can easily make it into a verb ("bloguer"), and Le Figaro seems to agree with it (see link below - article in French). Interesting to note that the site itself uses "blogs" for its blog section...

I hope this helps,

I'm building a bilingual site (English / French) and wonder if anybody has a common term for "tags" or "tagged" as in:
"This entry is tagged..."
A bit of googling hasn't really resolved it, and I know that a literal translation of the word is probably not accurate.
On a related topic, I welcome thoughts on the use of the term "bloc- notes" as officially prescribed, as opposed to just retaining "blog."
It seems like Bloc-Note hasn't really captured the public's imagination...
