I'd like to understand this better. If the workplace is in fact informal
(i.e. it's OK to wear sneakers on a daily basis) are you saying that the
candidate should make an exception specifically for the interview and not
wear them, even though he'd be normally wearing them if accepted? In other
words, should an applicant dress for the interview in something that they
wouldn't want to wear while working? Is the interview more like an average
snapshot or a formal portrait shot? Should it be a declaration of personal
preferences/intentions or a pre-signaling of conformance? Finally, for whose
benefit is the interview dress code designed, the applicant or the company?
