I suspect most people won't hand over their credit card numbers unless they're reasonably convinced the company is okay - but passwords for email, and other personal data, many people don't seem to consider so much of a concern. Look at the number of people who are quite happy to post their physical home location online, to a few metres' accuracy, or who post photos of themselves, and an itinerary, or enough information to make identity theft reasonably straightforward. There are a lot of great Web2.0 stalking-enabled applications :)
I do a lot of these things too, but hopefully I'm a little more aware of the potential for things to go wrong :-)
