Amen. We have conducted primary research this year on this topic to 
assess how we could best educate folks about the risks they are faced 
with online (and to build personas to design a solution).

People talk a lot about what they are concerned about (SPAM primarily) 
and what they fear (identity theft), but they don't do anything about 
any of the issues they bring up (barely have anti-virus software).

What I found most interesting, however, is that they have high 
expectations about what others (read: ISP and people they pay money to) 
should do for them, while they have explicit expectations about how 
systems should behave (AKA, remember me and don't bother asking me my 
password every time, just keep me authenticated).

It's a tough world to be in when you have to reconcile the expectations 
for being secure and safe versus minimal user effort.
