[Sigia-l] Usability of scrolling news headlines?

I've had the opportunity to do some testing with users over the past
ten  years or so on a number of different sites that indicates that a
significant proportion of users don't even see scrolling headlines or
tickers, and very few gain any real value from them.

I've seen this in a range of types of websites from ISPs (re: outages
etc), news sites, and transport information sites.

Based on my observations, it is pretty unlikely that I would use this
device in anything I was designing, or recommend it.
