I couldn't agree more. But I've noticed that most companies are willing
to give up some quality in exchange to gain some manageability.
Deliverable gates and artifacts give them that manageability, and the
attendant comfort more manageability affords them.
So if "the problem" encompasses the project's risks and political
culture as well as the stated market/user problem, then aren't
deliverables (as they increase client comfort) part of the overall
"solution" clients really want?
