The *best* IAs create win-win situations for both the 
client/company and the users of the product. I lead Interaction 
Design for a $65m business unit at a large company; at the end of the day, if I didn't feel 
like I was consistently striking this balance I would hate my job.

To polarize the issue like this, Chris, is to beat yourself down before 
you even get started.

If an experience is delightful and engaging, and provides value for 
people, they will return. To make page views your number 1 priority 
outside of this context seems mighty shortsighted and dismal IMHO.
