[Sigia-l] Content Modeling Process Questions

I've been on vacation for a few weeks, so just catching up on the recent
posts. Thanks to those who replied.

Ann, your book came in while I was out, so I will be catching up on that, as
well. I would love to get a copy of the presentation.

I've been speaking with some folks at Vamosa regarding their 'Content
Analyser' and 'Content Migrator' tools and will be getting a demo in a few
weeks. Anyone have any experience with their tools? Based on my current
limited knowledge, it seems promising for very large content migrations.

Content modeling is the correct term. Typically content which is
modeled is structured content.

We have been modeling content for more than a decade. There are no
content modeling tools. We've even tried adapting tools like Rational
Rose for content modeling and it doesn't work. The best tool we have
found is Excel. We have standard way of representing content models.

I'd be happy to send you a copy of the presentation I gave in July at
a conference. Our standard Excel layout is shown in this presentation.

Chapter 8 of our book "Enterprise Content Management: A Unified
Content Strategy" is all on content modeling and reuse.

And we are giving workshops in Atlanta, Chicago, Seattle, Vancouver
and Toronto in the next few months on "Content Modeling and
Structured Writing".

I'd be happy to answer any other questions on this topic. Content
modeling is a significant component of the work we do in the
information architecture of content management.
