For decades, companies have already been doing content lifecycle
management using DBMS.

Don't mean to be disrespectful, but isn't that disingenuous? When I am
being sold something called "Information Architecture", I expect the
discussion to be centered around what information is and the
associated architecture. Anything less smells fishy.
BTW, without a pragmatic distinction between information and data, how
do you, or other IAs, know that what is being worked on is in fact
"Information Architecture", not "Data Architecture"?
