[Sigia-l] IA research?

I see no serious discussion of what research needs to be
done in our field.  Perhaps research is irrelevant because
we are just a craft, like shoemaking, and any research
would naturally center on making better shoes more cheaply.

Or, perhaps the basic problem is that we are dealing with
an enigma ... a human mind (attached to fingers) face to face
with a screen (attached to silicon chips). The poor human
"architect" is in the middle, trying to script the interaction
between a known machine and an unknown user.

I suspect that behind it all is the flow of money,
not information.
