[Sigia-l] Year Field: Combo vs. Input Box

Yes, a combo may be more a of pain for the user, but IMHO only in
terms of time (having to scroll through the list) and not in terms of
any lack of understanding the UI (not knowing where in the combo list
to find your birth year) At the same time, I don't think you can
separate this issue from the rest of the form, e.g. if the preceding
fields are text boxes, then it might be better from a UX perspective
for this to also be a text box (i.e. the user is already typing and
tabbing, so they may find it easier to continue doing that), but here
again if we are talking about a birth date, I think the preceding
fields (day, month), should be combos as well, for validation reasons.

Also, I am not sure you'd want to default to 1967 or any year in a
birth year combo, since the user then can (maybe unintentionally)
submit the form without changing that value (i.e. you'd get a lot of
people born in 1967)
