That type of situation is already happening without a need for geolocation
technology, and its effect is already minimized with solutions that are
immune to geolocation technology.

CNN and CNN International (and if you go to TV, CNN Asia) present vastly
different "slants" on the news. The American public is generally more
"conservative" than the European public, so a single view - while perhaps
more honest - will always upset one side of the Atlantic.

One solution is already in place, in forums like Democrtic Underground
(which agree more with the CNN International slant) and FreeRepublic (which
agree more with the CNN Asia slant). These are forums where people all over
the world exerpt from their local news sources, link to them, provide
("colorful" ;^) commentary, etc. This is a manual and distributed version of
what portals like Yahoo, Excite, et al, do... aggregate content from various
sources and allow each individual to select which ones to use.

I don't see why a "news portal" site or application can't allow me to select
news from both the US and European views of FoxNews.com, and let me see for
myself what's on both. And if none sees a profit motive in providing the
automated tool to do that with, my Freeper friends will do a prety
satisfactory job.
