Yes, but in real-life information architecture this context is surprising
fragile. I estimate the shelf life of information on a corporate intranet
to be about a year.

Exactly. I always describe my role as an information architect as generalist
and integrative, rather than specialist. I feel this is accurate and
valuable, but difficult to communicate to specialists, particularly software
engineers.
