This is my first time posting to this list serve -- so I guess you can call
me a lurker. But I was always taught to listen for a while before you
speak.

Anyways I have be practicing IA for about 5 years now under may different
titles -- the most bizarre one was Multimedia Coordinator, and then there
was Web Marketing Specialist. LOL -- don't ask me what they were thinking.
And unfortunately for the last three years I have been working in the public
sector, in the middle of the US which as even less support for IAs. And
there are not local or national IA organizations for middle of US that help
to provide feedback or support. The best I can hope for is books and lists
like this one.

So I will get to my point. I would love to get involved with organizations
like AIFIA -- but the problem is that most the organizations have come and
gone and they provide more information about foreign country groups than
little old places like the middle of Kansas or right now KY.

And that is where my problem lies with AIFIA (And other organizations) - I
am not sure if it can help me in the physical location of the US that I am
at, and I can't find out either, cause I am not a member. So I am in a
never ending circle -- pay the money and be unable to take advantage of the
services because of location -- or not join and miss making contacts with
the other miss-named IAs in the middle of the forgotten US.
