[Sigia-l] Documenting portal navigation

Hi,
I hope this doesn't replicate a previous thread, but I
need some help with documentation/deliverables.
The company I work for primarily creates browser-based
software for governments in the US and UK. These
project generally require screenflows, wireframes, and
use cases. Less often, we are asked to create portals
that tie together several applications. Our
"standard" deliverables for this are a sitemap and
wireframes; however, the seemingly endless number of
navigation paths and interactions (e.g., multiple
views of the same information) are difficult to
document this way. While I think scenario-based
storyboards are a great tool for this, they fall short
of capturing all the possible interactions (and maybe
that's not even necessary). Because implementation of
the IA is done by a separate team (and company) we
have to be as explicit as possible.
Could someone point me to some examples (perhaps you
have tackled a similar documentation issue) or
resources? I try to keep up with most of the online
sources like Boxes and Arrows, etc., but I haven't
been able to find specific, concrete examples.
Thank you so much for your help,
*Emily Leahy-Thieler
