Huh?

I don't know where you get this idea from, seeing as much of the efforts of
IA are driven by UCD, through techniques such as contextual inquiry, card
sorting, affinity diagrams, user profiles, personas, and the list goes on.

Findability is one of the goals or objectives of IA work. There are other
objectives too, some of which are not well served by IA, and if your users
would be better served by some other objective then you get other, more
appropriate, professionals in. If users need highly efficient and learnable
interaction, then get some usability folk. If users need engaging
storytelling with elements of drama, plot, and character, then get some
storytellers in.

Just don't harangue the diesel mechanic because you want to do interior
decorating. It's unseemly and unprofessional.
