Interesting.  I know a lot of IT shops are pushing W2003 w/Sharepoint
because of out of the box functionality and such.  I got to play with
the frontend a bit and it seemed like a good package.  I wonder if MS
will offer any certification on it at all.

I wish I could answer your questions definitively, but here is what I
know.

The project is the first major launch in Documentum for our organization
and
we had to buy new servers, etc. I'm guessing they put Windows 2003 on
the
new boxes. The champion of SharePoint is the head of our Network and
Technology group (second to the CTO). I think he's keen on it because
there
has been a lot of talk about collaboration in the organization, although
no
project has been defined or specifically selected to introduce this type
of
functionality. In short, I have a feeling it is a little bit of both,
new
toy and natural progression.
