[Sigia-l] sharePoint for search

I wish I could answer your questions definitively, but here is what I know.

The project is the first major launch in Documentum for our organization and
we had to buy new servers, etc. I'm guessing they put Windows 2003 on the
new boxes. The champion of SharePoint is the head of our Network and
Technology group (second to the CTO). I think he's keen on it because there
has been a lot of talk about collaboration in the organization, although no
project has been defined or specifically selected to introduce this type of
functionality. In short, I have a feeling it is a little bit of both, new
toy and natural progression.

I'm curisous, from a systems/IT perspective, was the rest of the companies
NOS infrastructure moved to Windows 2003 server with Sharepoint or was it
done in a piecemeal fashion. If it was an entire migration/upgrade was this
a planned upgrade upon letting the previous licensing depreciate or was it a
monumental decision based on a perceived need to use Sharepoint as the
platform from the CIO, CEO or some top level person? So, in other words,
was this a decision based on a natural progression or is it a new toy?

Thanks,

Sean
