The federal government is planning to eliminate the village, 70
kilometres southwest of North Bay, when it updates the next official
large map of Canada in the coming months. The 122-year-old community
unfortunately doesn't have size or balance on its side. "We try to avoid
putting names into a relatively unpopulated part of the map just to have
something there," said Paul Harker, who works for the federal
government's GeoAccess Division.
