I was on the verge of unsubscribing to NY Times.com as I was reading the
sports section, my browser was hijakced. The page literally turned
90degrees CCW and the banner ad of course stood out for about 15 seconds,
there was a "close" button near the ad, but I was totally amazed.

So I was wondering, how do IAs work with marketing/ad folks when designing
public websites. I'm guessing there had to be some kind of "discussion"
done about the IA/UX of that type of user experience. First there were the
static ads, then animated ads, pop overs and pop unders, the ad that follows
you, the ad that comes up and forces you to hit continue to get back to what
you were doing, and now this turn the page around so you can see my special
banner ad. How can advertisers expect to get clickthrus when they interfere
with my primary task at the site?

Argh!

Lisa
