Usability Engineer
Terra Lycos, Inc.

Position Responsibilities:
Lycos seeks a Usability Engineer. In this position, you will work with User
Interface Researchers to apply a range of human-centered research
techniques, such as persona development, task analysis, heuristic
evaluation, and so on. Your central duties will be to design and run
usability evaluations -- with eye-tracking technology. Under the guidance
of a UI researcher, you will write and present your findings to product
teams. Other work includes: Maintaining a database of Lycos participants,
helping with participant scheduling, and other coordination duties;
recording, tracking, and reporting on UI issues; and carrying out
literature reviews, collecting and analyzing benchmarking data, and other
ongoing research work. As a member of the User Experience Group, you will
have the opportunity to work in a team of visual designers, information
architects, UI researchers and product managers. Example product categories
where you may work include: search, personalization, e-commerce, wireless
applications and content destinations (e.g., entertainment, sports or small
business). In this role, you will gain significant experience in
user-centered design at a market-leading Web portal and you will hone your
skills in usability engineering.

Education/Experience/Skills Required:
· Passion for superb interactive design
· Skills in user-centered design and usability engineering
· Good knowledge of the Web
· Good report writing skills

BA/BS in Computer Science (Human-Computer Interaction), Psychology
(Cognitive, Experimental, or Human Factors), Library Information Science,
or related field. We expect applicants to have experience working in a
usability lab, but will consider applicants with relevant experience in
closely related fields.
