Since you don't say how the authors' stuff was originally organized in the
files system, how hard could it possibly be to emulate just exactly that
organization scheme (folders/files ?) as an alternate browsing scheme for
the DB data? One of the fundamental attractions of  storing data in an RDBMS
is to have multiple (re)presentations of it.
