Easier?  Easier on the user or on the developer?  It's certainly NOT easier
building faceted classifications.  (okay...at least for me...there is the
strong chance I'm the oddball in this regard...)  I've found it to be
complex, time-consuming and having a fair amount of upkeep.  

I don't even think it's easier neccessarily for the user.  Sometimes, a
sense of familiarity and a sense of a set path is good I think.  Having the
constant filtering and searching could be a drain in certain instances...

In certain (re: large) systems, faceted works well.  (epicurious.com for
example).  But I don't think it's what everything should be.  Choices are
good.  Both options should be viable tools in the toolbox, so to speak.
