Folks

Hearing no comments or objections I just cast the following votes:

1) Systematic Review for Notification of ISO 11108:1996 Information and documentation - Archival paper - Requirements for permanence and durability - CONFIRM
2) Systematic Review for Notification of ISO 11798:1999 (vers 3) Information and documentation - Information and documentation - Permanence and durability of writing, printing and copying on paper - Requirements and test methods - REVISE with the follwing comment:

ASIST agrees with the comments provided by NFAIS

3) Systematic Review for Notification of ISO 9706:1994 (vers 4) Information and documentation - Paper for documents - Requirements for permanence - REVISE with the following comment:

ASIST agrees with the comments provided by NFAIS

4) Systematic Review of ISO 690:2010 (Ed 3) Information and documentation -- Guidelines for bibliographic references and citations to information resources - REVISE - with the following comment:

ASIST agrees with the other comments provided that the standard should be revised

Basically the comments provided for #2 and #3 were that the standard is over 20 years old and should be revised to take into account new methods and technologies

The comments from other voters on #4 were like the following:

This standard should be revised to address the quickly changing nature of information and content and publication. The unit of publication and unit of reference is getting smaller every year. Scholars need to cite paragraphs on web pages and datasets and specific columns within large datasets and blogs and specific blog entries and Facebook pages and so forth. I believe it is time to revise, again, this standard in light of current scholarly "publication" practices.

Im a bit surprised that noone had any comments on ISO 690

If anyone has any comments or opinins on any of these we have until midnight tonite to provide them or change our vote

Also there is a NISO vote on

New Work Item Proposal: Revision of ISO 8 Presentation of Periodicals Including PIE-J: The Presentation & Identification of E-Journals

I believe I already sent out the relevant documents but if anyone needs them just let me know

Coments needed by 9/24
