I've been taking notes and doing sketches on a financial app/environment for
these kind of devices over the last nine months. Now, I've had some
experience with old skool SGI infoviz/analysis about 15 years ago. That was
more geeky than you'd ever want. Imagine these gestural APIs cleanly and
simply rolled into something like Core Gestures (a la Core Animation) on OS
X, so that in a single line of code you could assign a pinch gesture to (not
a zoom) but, say, dynamic data drilldown pivoted around what was under
another finger from your other hand...and so on.
This is why I got so frustrated with people here who looked at the intro of
the iPhone and only saw references to disjointed 'similar' features on
existing 'smartphones.' I mean, c'mon. The UI potentials here are
monumental, despite what brain-dead companies like Palm, Motorola might
think.
