Check out JotSpot, a next-generation Wiki technology.

While I agree that Wiki's do not fall into the
"traditional" realm of CMS, it's true that they can,
with certain limitations, offer a system for managing
content.

At DreamWorks Animation, we have adopted the OddMuse
Wiki, extended it, and deployed roughly 60 interlinked
Wikis to form a content management framework.

In many ways, the lack of certain CMS standard
features has provided flexibility we couldn't have
predicted up front: We created composite news pages
using raw includes, wrote relatively simple breadcrumb
navigation system that carries across Wiki instances,
and added a Thunderstone Search Engine.

The cash out of pocket was $10,000 for the high
performance search engine. OddMuse is Open Source.

Questions?
