The Sixth International Conference on Multimodal Interfaces (ICMI'04)
will be held October 13-15, 2004 at the Atherton Hotel and the School of
Information Sciences Technology Building at the Pennsylvania State
University. The three-day conference, sponsored by ACM, will bring
together academia, industry and government agencies to present and
discuss the latest multidisciplinary work on multimodal interfaces,
systems, and applications.
ICMI'04 is the foremost international conference representing the
growing interest in next-generation perceptive, adaptive and multimodal
user interfaces, which are transforming the nature of human-computer
interaction by creating more natural, expressively powerful, flexible
and robust means of interacting with computers.
Topics of interest to the conference include:
- multimodal input and output interfaces using modalities such as
speech, vision, natural
language, gesture, gaze, audio, haptics, and pen-based techniques.
- multimodal architectures.
- multimodal fusion and multisensory integration.
- cognitive modeling of users.
- multibiometric interfaces.
- universal access interfaces.
- multimodal wearable/mobile systems.
- attentive and attentional interfaces.
- system evaluation.
- tools and system infrastructure for multimodal interfaces.
- and applications of multimodal interfaces.
The three days of invited talks, panels, single-track oral and poster
presentations will facilitate interaction and discussion among
researchers. The ICMI'04 proceedings will be published by ACM Press.
Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished research papers with
a maximum length of 8 pages. Detailed information about paper
submission, including a style guide, can be found at on the conference
