Firstly because I don't have to translate the measurements and ingredients. 

Secondly because the BBC cooks mostly do quite modern, healthy food. I
wouldn't know where to start to find healthy, modern American cooking.
Epicurious is a lovely site, but the food is awful ;) (see, I can generalise
about a whole nation's cooking too)

Thirdly because modern Australian & modern British cooking are actually quite
similar...

Forthly, because the Australian ABC site has a terrible food section!

And to really make this off topic - if someone has a good recipe for Cioppino
(amazing seafood stew), which I ate in San Fran last year, please send it my way!
