I think it might also be a painful time to be junior designer of any sort,
including IA. During the boom times, anyone could get hired and was. now
teams have too many junior folks, and more senior folks are on the market.
that means any hiring manager worth their salt will look to season their
teams with senior contributors. it may be a while before teams have the
balance to hire out-of-school folks. And with senior folks available, there
is less incentive. So it'll be the cheap companies that can't afford the
senior folks who will hire-- and their jobs will also look like laundry
lists, making them look daunting.
I think the best thing a person is school could do is contact companies
about internships. companies love a free thing, and interns are free.
companies love a sure thing, and an intern is a good bet as a later hire.
