I hate to do this on this list, however I would say that I am sad as many
others seeing how people would transform this beautiful list into a cult,
given the chance. The personal attach on someone with opposing ideas is
completely unjustified. These negative campaigns does not help any
individual, and not to this list at all. And I being just a humble member
of this list would say that having completely opposite opinions on things
are always good for the long life of the profession we are planning to
build/establish. We must not take opposition too personally. Look at
Saddam and to whole of his regime.
To welcome 'Mark Brand' to this list I would say -- this is the most
interactive list you may come across. It is not just the skills and domain
of IA that you will learn here, but the whole politics of Design, IA and
Usability; which at times becomes most important to build your case for
this holy profession. And having no *norms* in this list is what makes it
even more engaging.
Another thing -- Some of the *bilious* guys, you may encounter in the
first impression, turns out to be most useful and those *sweet* once may
turn out to be as useless as a collar studs.
Kudos to your being a standup guy.
