[Sigia-l] XML vocabulary for periodical indexes?

I have a client that has been building an extensive database of citations
for articles in their periodicals library. By hand. It's really quite
impressive what they've entered so far. Very dedicated folks.

Anyhow, they want to share these indexes with a couple of other specialist
libraries ... thus my question:

Is there an established XML vocabulary for periodical citations indexes?
Ideally we want to use an existing standard (ad hoc or official) to increase
the opportunities for swapping data.
