Hi Parry,
as a slightly OT idea - check out www.thebrain.com (and perhaps
http://www.webbrain.com/ although this appears to be offline at the very
moment!) because it has a very funky way of navigating what is effectively a
taxonomy of keywords/labels.
I like the way it represents "broader", "narrower" and "related" topics.

// Subject: [Sigia-l] visualising taxonomies on the web
//
//
// Hi all,
//
// Has anyone used a method of visualising a taxonomy on the web
// where it is
// important for a user to see what is available on the current
// level and what
// may be available further levels down or above, where users can
// move objects
// from one folder to another and move objects up and down levels, create
// folders and be able to delete and amend...., like windows explorer for
// example.
//
// What issues did you have to face and how did you overcome them?
//
// were there any methods you would have liked to have used but were not
// feasible for whatever reason?
//
// was your chosen method usability tested and were there any
// problems however
// small?
//
// help on this subject will be greatly appreciated.!
