Down here we are using an IBM notebook (to output on a video recorder) as
our portable solution (we did however made it a point a couple of years
back, that all machines purchased (notebooks and desktops) are capable of
outputing both on VDU and telly.. we find graphics cards output sufccicient
for our needs (usability tests analysis) especially when you combine this
data with other recorded views, other computer log data, observation notes,
etc. However the quality of the output is really not as good as what you get
from a scan converter..

Therefore, you will first need to decide for yourself whether making video
highlights is very important to you, your company, and your clients..
Sometimes video highlights can win a case/converts, sometimes the client is
usability-favourable in which case there is no need for them to be presented
with such low level (raw) information/data...

Subject: [Sigia-l] recording software

Hello,
I'm setting up a portable testing lab. Does anyone know anything about video
cards that allow you to capture onscreen action? I heard this is an
inexpensive alternative to buying a Scan converter... Links to any
products/info would be helpful.

Additionally, anyone have advice about software that would record a
subject's actions?

Any help is appreciated
