On the one hand I absolutely agree that html is nothing but data while
Javascript, ASP, etc. is logic imposed on data, so they are certainly
different animals requiring different skills (or skill levels - I haven't
met a programmer who couldn't do HTML.), but...
while this is a bit off-thread, I am somewhat put off when I see programming
placed outside the jurisdiction of what can be defined as 'design.'
Contrary to the understanding of more than a few non-programmers,
programming is a form of design just as much as visual design (which too
many people seem to think is the same as 'design,' though the term design
really is much broader), which is why the planning of how to implement
something at the code level often is referred to as the code design.
