Emerald Appoints Dr Jim Jansen of the Pennsylvania State University as Editor of Internet Research

United Kingdom, April 2011 - Emerald Group Publishing is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Jim Jansen, Associate Professor of Information Sciences and Technology at Pennsylvania State University, as the new Editor of Internet Research. The publication is an international, refereed journal that aims to describe, assess and foster understanding of the role of wide-area, multi-purpose computer networks such as the Internet.

Dr Jansen brings a wealth of experience to Internet Research which is a long-established journal now its 21st volume. Ranked on Thomson Reuters, Internet Research registers downloads of over 100, 000 articles per year and continues to present cutting-edge international research findings with multi-disciplinary perspectives.

Dr Jansen is an associate professor with the College of Information Sciences and Technology at The Pennsylvania State University. His research interests focus on the uses and affordances of the Web for information searching and ecommerce, with emphasis on the interaction between the person and the technology. He has authored and co-authored more than 200 research publications, with articles appearing in a multi-disciplinary and wide range of journals and conferences. He is co-author of the book, Web Search: Public Searching of the Web, co-editor of the Handbook of Research on Weblog Analysis, author of the book Understanding User - Web Interactions Via Web Analytics, and author of the forthcoming book, Understanding Sponsored Search: A Coverage of the Core Elements of Keyword Advertising (Cambridge University Press).

Jim succeeds Professor David G. Schwartz of Bar Ilan University, Israel. Prof Schwartz has been with the journal since 1998 and led the journal's recent 20th anniversary celebrations in 2010, including a special anniversary issue which republished six seminal articles from the early 1990s commenting on the works of visionaries such as: Mitch Kapor, Marc Andreessen and Sir Tim Berners-Lee. David Schwartz is now stepping down to pursue other projects.
