Assistant/Associate Professor (Tenure track)
The School of Library & Information Science of The Catholic University of America invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level to begin in the fall 2006 or spring 2007 semester. We seek an energetic individual with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Information Retrieval, Information Architecture, Knowledge Management, Special Libraries, and Digital Collections.
Candidates must be able to teach in one or more of our core course areas: Organization of Information, Information Sources and Services, Information Systems in Libraries and Information Center, and Libraries and Information in Society. The school offers courses in Virginia and at the Library of Congress. Candidates are expected to teach one course a year at one of our off campus sites. The teaching load is five courses per academic year.
An earned doctoral degree in library and information science or a closely related field is required for the appointment. Candidates should have demonstrated teaching ability and the ability to use technology for teaching and learning. All candidates must have a developed research agenda and publications commensurate with the level of appointment. A willingness and ability to attract grants are highly desirable.
