The 2nd Shanghai International Library Forum
October 12-16, 2004, Shanghai Library

Call for papers

The Shanghai International Library Forum is a biennial international event aiming at promoting professional and academic exchange among librarians and information professionals all over the world. In 2002, to celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Shanghai Library successfully organized the First Shanghai International Library Forum. More than 100 representatives from twelve countries attended the forum, 77 papers were published in the proceedings and 53 library and information professionals gave speeches at the meeting. Knowledge management, reference services, interlibrary cooperation and digitization were the major concerns of the first forum.

The 2nd Shanghai International Library Forum will be held on October 12-16, 2004, and the theme of this forum is "City Development and Library Service". SILF 2004 will bring together librarians, researchers and scholars to discuss the latest achievements, innovations and future tendencies related to the theme.

The sub themes are as follows:
    * Library and Lifelong Education
    * Reference Service and Research
    * Digital Library & Digital City
    * Library and City's Knowledge Infrastructure
    * Library and the World Expo

Those who are interested in the above themes are welcome to attend the forum. The abstract of the paper should be submitted to the Shanghai Library before April 12, 2004, and the deadline for submitting the complete paper is May 31, 2004.
