The Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto invites outstanding applicants for entry into our 2018-19 doctoral program. An intellectually diverse and rich environment, the Toronto iSchool is an ideal place to pursue groundbreaking research about information, technology and people.

Right in the heart of Toronto, the world’s most diverse city, the faculty is located in the center of a thriving campus. This provides an inspiring background to engage in influential research into critically relevant questions that bridge aspects of technology and society, connecting theory and practice.

Information cultures and practices, e.g., social and cultural histories of libraries, archives, and museums; games; information practice in informal and leisure contexts; food cultures; social media and heritage practices; user experience; indigenous knowledge; new journalism practices and technology

Information systems, e.g., big data analytics, cluster analysis; service science; design perspectives for sustainability and long-term considerations; health informatics; enterprise data analytics; digital preservation and curation; social media analytics

Degree Requirements: View the requirements<https://ischool.utoronto.ca/areas-of-study/phd-in-information-studies/> for undertaking doctoral research on a full-time (4 years)  basis. Please note: students applying to the program must have a master’s degree or equivalent; there is no direct entry from an undergraduate program. The Flex Option for the doctorate is at present under review; no applications will be accepted for the Flex Option for fall 2018.
