Dear SIG-TIS members:
You receive this e-mail because you are a member of ASIS&T SIG
Technology, Information, and Society (TIS). The purpose of the email is
to update you on recent SIG activities and plans for the upcoming 2005
conference in North Carolina.
The current chair of SIG-TIS is Kristin Eschenfelder at University of
Wisconsin, Madison, the co-chair is Noriko Hara at Indiana University,
and the Secretary is Bin Li, of Wayne State University.
At the upcoming ASIS&T meeting, SIG-TIS is co-sponsoring 3 panels:
*Sparking Synergies Between Research and Practice: The Contribution of
Social Informatics (SIGs TIS, CRIT)
Howard Rosenbaum (moderator), Steve Sawyer, Elisabeth Davenport, Ronald
Day
* Information Grounds and Everyday Life (SIGs USE, HCI, TIS)
Karen Fisher, Lynne McKechnie, Tom Dobrowolsky, Betty Marcoux, Charles

* Cross-Cultural Analysis of Virtual Reference (SIGs TIS, III)

In addition, the SIG will hold a planning meeting (date and time TBA) to
(a) hold elections for next year, and (b) to begin to plan a mini
conference, speaker, or other activities as part of the 2006 ASIST
annual meeting.
If you have ideas for sessions, speakers, or other activities for the
2006 meeting contact Kristin Eschenfelder <eschenfelder at wisc.edu>, or
come to the planning meeting. We look forward to seeing everyone at
ASIST 05 in North Carolina!
