Dear colleagues,

are results from information services good enough for applications in informetrics and scientometrics? Concerning the results of a study by Dorsch, they are not.

What's better for use in informetrics and scientometrics? Authors' personal lists of publications or Web of Science (WoS), Scopus or any other bibliographic information service?

Isabelle Dorsch has introduced a newly interpretated indicator in informetrics: the relative visibility of an author in different scientific databases. (By the way, I was one of Isabella's "victims" as my publication list was one of her case studies.)

Best,
Wolfgang G. Stock
