The Indiana University Network Science Institute (http://iuni.iu.edu<http://iuni.iu.edu/>) is looking to hire an Executive Director to work with a group of scholars in to create and expand the infrastructure for research and training in network and data science.

Indiana University is making a multi-year, multi-million dollar investment to create and expand the infrastructure for research and training in network and data science through the establishment of Indiana University Network Institute (IUNI). The IUNI Executive Director will promote the growth of research in this area by: working with IUNI faculty and staff to support the development of research proposals to federal and state agencies, corporations, and foundations; leading discussions regarding long-range plans to meet targeted goals, as well as implementing strategies and priorities developed by IUNI Leadership Team and Advisory Board; developing policies and procedures to provide seed pilot funding and personnel resources to faculty to initiate and grow collaborative research; interfacing with national and international colleagues in academe, government agencies and foundations to ensure that the mission of IUNI is responsive to and informed by the needs of the wider scientific community; identifying research infrastructure needs to support IUNI projects, and, in conjunction with IT units at IU create a cutting-edge computing environment for novel methodological innovation, including multi-scale computer modeling, social supercomputing, large-scale data mining and participatory platforms.

The Executive Director is the principal administrative position within IUNI and has the administrative responsibility to: optimize the allocation of resources; provide oversight of technical, research and administrative staff; manage the IUNI budget and some post-award grants and contract activities; provide the creative vision for developing the IUNI brand; prepare reports and press releases highlighting IUNI achievements.
