Interdisciplinary Faculty Appointment in Healthcare Informatics
Drexel University's College of Information Science and Technology, College
of Nursing and Health Professions, School of Public Health, and College of
Medicine are seeking a tenure-track faculty member, at any level, for a
joint appointment. We are seeking candidates in the broad area of
healthcare informatics. As part of a university-wide healthcare informatics
initiative, we are especially interested in applicants who either complement
or strengthen existing interdisciplinary activities in this area. We are
particularly interested in applicants who may have expertise in one or more
of the following areas: health literacy, electronic medical records or
health information management.
Responsibilities include a contribution to teaching in one or more of the
Colleges and Schools, development of a strong program of fundable research,
and collaboration with colleagues across Drexel University to develop
interdisciplinary education and research programs in healthcare informatics.
Qualifications include an earned doctorate in Information Science, Nursing,
Public Health, Medicine or a closely related field with a demonstrated
commitment to research and teaching. Candidates for a senior position
should have an established research record and success in obtaining external
research funding. Formal experience in the health sciences industry is a
plus. An understanding of community-based medicine is also of value.
Salary and rank will be based on qualifications and experience. The
position is available immediately, and the search will continue until the
position is filled.

cooperative education programs in the nation, with formal relationships in
place with over 1,500 local, national and multinational companies. Drexel
is located on Philadelphia's Avenue of Technology in University City and at
the hub of the academic, cultural and historical resources of the nation's
fifth largest metropolitan region. Philadelphia is also the midpoint of a
mid-Atlantic technology corridor that stretches from New York City (100
miles north) to Washington, D.C. (135 miles south).
