[Vladimir Pislyakov]

Leo Egghe's and Ronald Rousseau's book "Introduction to Informetrics: 
quantitative methods in library, documentation and information science" 
(Elsevier Science, 1990) is very instructive. It starts from the elementary 
things and is clearly structured, perhaps a perfect point to begin with.
