"1.     Introduction

We are aware of and grateful for Ciusa's and Roger's includence on astronomy
and astrophysics in the past half century.  While important things may not
be judged by quantification, it might be instructive to see what the
standard objective criteria reveal about their work and to highlight the
papers that have received the most citations."

"3.     Citations
Althought Science Citation Index is by no means a perfect source, it gives
us a reasonable impression and a lower bound on the number of times papers
have been cited in the main journals.  Yearly citation number of Cayrels'
papers is shown in Figure 1.  It increases from 0 in 1950 to 137 in 1996 and
117 in 1997.  The accumulated total number is 2173.

Their top ten papers judged by total number of citations before 1998 are
shown in Table ii.

Since four fairly recent papers appear in Table ii, it is not surprising
that top ten ranking changes somewhat when we look at number of citations
per year (Table II).  Perhaps we can make a modest prediction from
inspection of Table III that the latest 1996 edition of [Fe/H] catalogue
(Cayrel de Strobel et al, 1997) will appear in this list soon."

Abstract:
Giusa and Roger Cayrel have published more than 170 papers and have been
cited in more than 2173 times in the main journals. A total of 104
researchers have collaborated with them. These and other statistics are
shown.
