Dear Dietmar,
Thanks very much for your feedback. I think it is important to have our own Newsletter, as it will enable us to advertise our events (e.g., paper contest, Webmar, workshop and panel). Angela has agreed to do the Newsletter as part of her role as communications officer.
I am sorry that are unable to attend ISSI this year.
Jonathan.

Jonathan,
I think inclusion of biographical information of the winners in a newsletter is a good idea. Should the SIG develop its own newsletter or rely on an existing forum like to the ISSI Newsletter to highlight its activities? Inviting the winners to express their interest in serving as officers is a good way to welcome them to the group. It's not too early to start thinking about the next slate of officers.
BTW, I must send my regrets regarding your suggestion to meet at the ISSI conference. I will not be able to attend the meeting this year.
Dietmar

Dear all,
When I notified the winners of their prizes I offered all: (a) The opportunity to present at the SIG’s workshop at ASSIST 2011 without further submission (provided that our workshop is approved by ASIST), (b) If you at some stage you are seeking a mentor, email me at this address and I will ask the SIG/MET officers about mentoring and (c) SIG/MET is due to have a new slate of offices in the autumn. If you are interested in serving as an officer, please let me know.” also invited the winner and runner-up to contribute a short biographical piece to the newsletter.
I received the following responses:
(1) Bei Wen: I am happy to write a short biographical piece for SIG/MET newsletter, but would welcome any instructions or examples you may have? Also some details on what a mentor can provide would be appreciated I am certainly interested in contributing to SIG/MET and serving as an officer. Please let me know the responsibilities, working load, etc.
(2) Ben Lutkoski: I would be happy to present a Bio--about how long should it be? I would also like to become more involved with the SIG/MET and present at the Fall ASIST meeting.
(3) Hsia-Ching : I'd very much like to have a mentor as well as serving as an officer. Please kindly let me know how I can start the processes regarding these matters.
Before I respond, I would be pleased to receive your suggestions.
Thanks,
Jonathan.
