[SigLT-L] Notes from 2007 Annual Meeting & Planning for 2008

Hello SIG LT members,
   We had a productive planning meeting session 
at the Annual Meeting last month.  The notes are 
now posted at

The primary focus of the meeting was discussion 
of programs for next year's meeting.  Here are the ideas discussed:
1)  One Laptop per Child initiative (Pascal  pcalarco @ nd.edu )
2) Improving library applications through log 
analysis and direct user observation (Pascal  pcalarco @ nd.edu )
3) Local loading of data, managing disparate data (Janet  arth @ umn.edu)
4) Digital Rights Management issues (Rafal  Rafal.Kasprowski @ rice.edu)
5) Developing ontologies/taxonomies (Judith  odell1j @ cmich.edu )

The name at the end in parentheses is the person 
from the meeting who will actively work on 
identifying speakers and, if all works well, 
submit the proposal to the conference program 
committee (chaired by José-Marie Griffiths) by 
the January 21 deadline.  There is more detail in 
the posted meeting notes.  If you have ideas on 
these topics contact the noted person.  If you 
have another idea and need help post to the list 
(or to other SIG lists with parallel interests).

   The theme of the 2008 Annual Meeting is People 
Transforming Information - Information
